Exploring Fairtrade

Our Fairtrade Primary Conferences are always a treat to run and this year’s was no exception. Students from 10 local primary school joined us at Legislative Buildings recently for a full day of learning about Fairtrade and the difference trading fairly can have on farmers, producers and their communities around the world.

As well as enjoying workshops on chocolate and where Fairtrade items come from, the children debated in the Tynwald Chamber and also thought about how they would spend the Fairtrade Premium in a fictional community – no easy task to agree on!

Thank you to President of Tynwald Laurence Skelly for allowing us to use Government buildings, Tynwald Office staff and to all the workshop leaders and helpers who made the day so special.
