The Global Village Exhibition; set in the Centenary Hall in Peel, the 12 completed dwellings were placed into ‘courtyards’ with corridor walkways between continents. The village had music, sounds and smells appropriate to the continents, as well as individual spot lighting and ongoing slide shows. In three days the exhibition was visited by 14 schools, 800 children and over 650 adults. The aim was to look at Issues of poverty within twelve different countries, starting with the universal shanty town… Five story tellers took the visiting groups through the continents, telling the stories of children from other countries. Each story depicted a development issue that is related to a child’s experience in that country
