The Director of the One World Centre is Rosemary Clarke. Following two years of teaching Geography in a secondary school, Rosemary has had opportunities to work in tourism and the media before accepting placements with charities in northern Iraq, Ethiopia and Mozambique. On her return to the UK she worked for two charities in Milton Keynes before joining the One World Centre in June 2011.
Her work is guided and supported by a management committee, currently composed as follows:
Phil Craine, Chair, is the Christian Aid representative on the Island
Jane Prescott, Treasurer, is passionate about the environment and is also a keen member of the Manx Wildlife Trust
Claire Bader is a nurse in A&E, and has worked in a number of different African countries over a 12 year period.
Stephanie Gray has a lot of environmental and educational experience
Leni Lewis runs Shakti Man, the Fairtrade shop in Ramsey
Phil Matthews is a geography teacher at Ballakermeen High School
Jude Needham teaches at Sulby Primary School
Peter O’Shea represents the Red Cross
Cat Turner runs our film nights and is a keen member of Friends of the Earth
Peter Whittaker brings his business expertise to the committee
